NAIFA’s Alabama chapter (NAIFA-AL) held a recent state Legislative Day in Montgomery. The event featured a welcome from NAIFA-AL President Booker Joseph and NAIFA-AL Grassroots Chair Matthew Wilson, followed by afternoon meetings with state legislators at the Capitol. Senator J.T. “Jabo” Waggoner recognized NAIFA-Alabama in the gallery during the Senate proceedings that day.
Longtime NAIFA-AL member, Sallie Bryant, organized a lineup of speakers after the meetings. Speakers included Mark Fowler, Deputy Commissioner/Chief of Staff for the Alabama Department of Insurance; Amanda Senn, Chief Deputy Director for the Alabama Securities Commission; Mary Margaret Caroll, Partner at Fine Geddie & Associates; and Bianca Alonso Weiss, State Government Relations Manager for NAIFA. NAIFA-AL then hosted a cocktail reception for attendees and lawmakers.
NAIFA state Legislative Days provide great opportunities for insurance and financial professionals to share with lawmakers their expertise and understanding of how laws impact Main Street consumers. Insurance is a state-regulated industry and NAIFA works tirelessly to ensure the industry is being protected.
