NAIFA-Florida members are in Tallahassee today for the Florida chapter’s Day on the Hill event. At an orientation breakfast this morning, agents and advisors receive an orientation and issues briefing. Following the breakfast, they proceed to the state capitol, taking their Main Street USA message to meetings with their elected officials.
Among the issues important to NAIFA members and their clients are:
Support for legislation allowing financial professionals take actions to protect senior clients from potential financial exploitation.
Support for common sense restrictions on life insurers’ use of consumers’ genetic testing
Incentives to migrate consumers from the Florida Medically Needy Program to private health insurance
Legislation to improve communication between insurance companies, policyholders, and agents regarding independent claims adjusters used in cases of hurricane- and other disaster-related property claims.
“NAIFA is the only professional membership association for agents and advisors with a robust political advocacy presence in every state,” said NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux. “Day on the Hill events, like this very successful one offered by NAIFA-Florida, ensure that state policymakers are aware of the vital services, products, and guidance insurance and financial professionals provide Main Street consumers and understand how laws and regulations can affect the ability of all financial professionals to serve their clients’ best interests.”
