NAIFA applauds the leadership of Representatives Young Kim (R-CA) and Joyce Beatty (D-OH) on the relaunch of the Congressional Financial Literacy and Wealth Creation Caucus for the 118th Congress. The Congresswomen are an excellent duo to co-chair this bipartisan group of legislators committed to empowering Americans with the tools needed to build wealth and achieve financial stability.

NAIFA is dedicated to helping all Americans build financial security. “Basic financial education is a necessity in the modern world. When people understand money matters, they are better equipped to make good decisions and put themselves on a more solid financial footing,” said NAIFA President Bryon Holz.

NAIFA is actively promoting financial curriculum requirements for public high school students to complete personal finance coursework. Currently, 19 states have passed measures to require public high school students to take a one-credit personal finance course prior to graduation. Grassroots work by NAIFA state chapters has been effective in advancing these measures.

NAIFA also promotes financial literacy through our consumer-facing website, www.financialsecurity.org, and webinars aimed at educating the public. The NAIFA Future Leaders program provides free online sessions for students presented by highly successful insurance and financial professionals encouraging the students to explore careers in insurance and financial services. By preparing the next generation of financial professionals, NAIFA aims to increase Americans’ financial knowledge and security.

NAIFA looks forward to working with the Financial Literacy and Wealth Creation Caucus to improve the financial literacy and capability of all Americans. NAIFA members, during meetings with lawmakers at the annual NAIFA Congressional Conference, will encourage additional members of Congress to join the Caucus.

In addition to Representatives Kim and Beatty, current members of the Caucus are Representatives André Carson (D-IN), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Sylvia Garcia (D-TX), Stephen Lynch (D-MA), Wiley Nickel (D-NC), Ralph Norman (R-SC), David Scott (D-GA), Bryan Steil (R-WI), Shri Thanedar (D-MI), and Nikema Williams (D-GA).
