Advocacy in action blog

NAIFA, the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA), Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS), and Life Happens are committed to furthering the success of financial professionals and the financial security and prosperity of their clients by maintaining and building upon longstanding strategic partnerships among industry organizations.

NAILBA, Life Happens and WIFS are hosting events at NAIFA’s Performance + Purpose conference in Orlando, Sept. 11-14.

NAIFA is a long-standing association partner and supporter of Life Happens. Real Life Stories, a series of presentations by Life Happens illustrating the personal impact of life insurance professionals and products on families and individuals, is always a Main Stage highlight of NAIFA’s Performance + Purpose conference.

“Life Happens is dedicated to working with all industry associations, companies and financial advisors to better educate consumers about the security provided via life insurance and its related products,” said Faisa Stafford, President and CFO of Life Happens. “Being a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of similar-minded organizations also dedicated to ensuring consumers are protected with the right financial products. That is why we are so thankful of the support and collaboration we have been able to have with our association partners.”

NAILBA and NAIFA together develop and implement political advocacy and professional development programs on behalf of their members. NAILBA has hosted a networking reception for independent agents and advisors at NAIFA’s Performance + Purpose conference for many years. NAIFA provides NAILBA members with advocacy updates, resources, and support on issues important to the industry and invites them to participate in advocacy events, including NAIFA’s annual Congressional Conference.

“NAILBA welcomes opportunities to work with NAIFA and other association partners wherever we are able to combine our strengths for the mutual benefit or our members and the industry,” said Dan LaBert, CEO of NAILBA. “Our annual conferences provide great opportunities to showcase our cooperation and support for each other.”

NAIFA and WIFS also collaborate on political advocacy and professional development programs. WIFS, as part of its long-standing partnership with NAIFA, will for the ninth consecutive year host the Celebration of Women breakfast at NAIFA’s P+P conference. This year’s breakfast features a presentation by WIFS President Michelle Harm. Additionally, WIFS and NAIFA are partnering to present a breakout session workshop at P+P, “Attracting Women to the Financial Industry and the Value of Work-Life Balance.”

"WIFS is committed to its long-standing partnership with NAIFA to provide expertise and support as the only professional association dedicated to attracting, developing and advancing women in the industry to their fullest potential," said Harm. “Our vision is to be the global change leader inspiring women to achieve their dreams.”

In addition to Life Happens and NAILBA, NAIFA has partnership agreements with the Asian American Insurance & Financial Professional Association (AAIFPA), Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies (LAAIA), National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA), and Society of Financial Services Professionals (FSP) to collaborate and strengthen programs that advance education and networking opportunities and support political influence and engagement.

“Our work with Life Happens, NAILBA, WIFS, AAIFPA, FSP, LAAIA, and NAAIA allows NAIFA to use our expertise, particularly in the areas of professional development and advocacy, to benefit the entire community of financial professionals,” said NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux. “All of our organizations are important to the growth and success of our members, but where our goals and interests overlap it makes great sense for us to draw on each others’ strengths and work together.”
