NAIFA joins trade association coalition in sending a letter to U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) urging Congress to pass legislation to strengthen the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) to reduce the impact of burdensome regulations on small businesses.

NAIFA further urges Congress to enact long-term solutions during the 119th Congress that reduce regulatory compliance burdens and red tape for small businesses.

Specifically, the coalition urges Congress to pass legislation such as H.R. 1163, the Prove it Act. The Prove It Act has already been passed by the House Judiciary Committee and the House Small Business Committee in the 119th Congress and has previously passed the House of Representatives in 2024 with support from NAIFA. The legislation would increase small business input in the regulatory process and ensure agencies are fully accounting for the impact of regulations on small businesses.

Prospects: It’s likely the Prove It Act will be passed by the House this year, though once again Senate passage will remain somewhat more difficult as in the previous Congress.
