NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux issued the following statement following a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on paid family medical leave:
“Paid family and medical leave are important to protect the financial security of working Americans and their loved ones, and NAIFA applauds the House Ways and Means Committee for exploring incentives to expand access to coverage. It is important that any proposed solutions do not displace current private-sector short- and long-term disability benefits offered by employers. These plans provide low-cost, flexible income-protection solutions for many families.
“NAIFA looks forward to working with members of the Ways and Means and Congress to create innovative and flexible programs, including employer incentives, to promote voluntarily programs for employers to expand coverage for more workers.”
