Advocacy in action blog

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) acknowledges the recent actions taken by the Idaho Department of Insurance, which issued two cease and desist orders to address concerns in the Medicare Advantage marketplace. We appreciate the Department’s commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent, and competitive environment for both carriers and consumers and applaud Director Cameron’s leadership.

Cease and Desist Order Regarding PacificSource Health Plans (Docket No. 18-4776-25)
The Department’s order seeks to ensure that Idaho seniors continue to have access to Medicare Advantage plans and that agents are compensated for their service. We recognize the importance of clear communication and equitable practices, and we support efforts that foster trust and confidence in the insurance process.

Cease and Desist Order Regarding UnitedHealthcare of the Rockies and Care Improvement Plus South-Central Insurance Company (Docket No. 18-4775-25)
By addressing concerns about agent compensation and consumer access, the Department is helping to preserve choice and transparency for Idaho’s Medicare beneficiaries. We value the Department’s collaborative approach and its dedication to upholding high standards across the industry.

Supporting Independent Agents
NAIFA strongly supports the vital role independent agents play in helping consumers navigate their insurance options. Independent agents are trusted professionals who provide personalized guidance and service to Idahoans. We remain committed to working constructively with regulators, agents, the field marketing organizations that support them, and fellow carriers to ensure that Idahoans receive the coverage and support they deserve.

We believe that ongoing dialogue and partnership are essential to a healthy insurance marketplace, and we look forward to continued collaboration with all stakeholders in all states.
