Advocacy in action blog

On August 18, 1966, NAIFA’s Board was on the cutting edge of advocacy by establishing National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee (NAIFAPAC), as a nonpartisan advocacy program. This vote also paved the way for a State IFAPAC in all 50 states. Then known as LUPAC, it focused on encouraging civic engagement and giving insurance and financial professionals a stronger voice in the political process.

Sixty years later, NAIFA’s political action committees have grown to become one of the largest in the insurance and financial service industry. It allows NAIFA members to combine their financial support on a nonpartisan basis for candidates who understand and support our industry at the federal level and in all 50 states. In 2025, NAIFA’s family of PACs raised more than $1.5 million from more than 2,600 contributors, many of whom refer to the PACs as their "business insurance.”

Over the decades, the issues have changed, the profession has evolved, and the political landscape has become increasingly complex. What has remained constant is NAIFA’s commitment to effective advocacy and to ensuring that lawmakers understand the important role financial professionals play in helping Americans achieve financial security.

As NAIFA marks this milestone, we recognize 60 years of our political action committees as an enduring part of NAIFA’s advocacy mission.

Happy 60th anniversary to NAIFA’s PACs!
