NAIFA applauds today's release of IRS guidance that will make it easier for small businesses to access the employer tax credit for providing paid family and medical leave (PFML) to their employees.

“This important step gives employers greater certainty and encourages broader adoption of workplace benefits that help employees care for themselves and their families while remaining connected to the workforce,” said NAIFA President Christopher L. Gandy, LACP.

“We commend Senators Deb Fischer (R-NE) and Angus King (I-ME), along with Representatives Randy Feenstra (R-IA), Stephanie Bice (R-OK), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), for their leadership in advancing policies that strengthen small businesses and expand access to paid family and medical leave.

“NAIFA supports expanding tax incentives that encourage employers to voluntarily offer PFML benefits. We also believe employers should have the flexibility to choose private paid family and medical leave solutions that best meet the needs of their businesses and employees. Today's guidance is a positive step toward increasing access to these important benefits while preserving choice and flexibility for America's employers.”
